Mini Burgers

Prep Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 10 minutes
Total Time 25 minutes

Equipment

  • Medium Bowl
  • Cookie or Baking Sheet
  • Large Skillet (10 inches)

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 6 slider buns
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 6 slices cheese, small
  • mayonnaise
  • lettuce leaves
  • tomatoes, sliced
  • caramelized onions, optional

Instructions

Burger Patties

  • In a medium bowl, combine ground beef, salt, and pepper with your hands.  Be careful not to over-mix.
  • Take about 2-2 ½ ounces or 2 tablespoons worth of ground beef and roll it in the palm of your hand like you are making meatballs. Flatten the top slightly and set aside on a baking sheet.
  • Grill the burger patties to your desired level of doneness, usually about 2-3 minutes per side for medium-rare. Do not mash the burgers with the spatula, as this will release all the juices and make them dry.
  • Add a small slice of cheese to each patty during the last minute of grilling. You can cover with a lid or a melting dome to help melt the cheese.
  • Remove the patties from the heat and let them rest.

Slider Buns

  • Lightly spread a layer of butter on each cut side of the burger bun. Make sure to spread it all the way to the edges.
  • On a griddle over medium-high heat, put the buttered side of the buns down and allow them to cook for about 1-2 minutes or until they are golden brown.

Mini Burger Assembly

  • Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each slider bun.
  • If desired, place a lettuce leaf and a slice of tomato on top of the mayo then top it with a burger patty. Spoon a generous amount of caramelized onions over the patty.
  • Cover each burger with the top half of the slider bun. Enjoy with your favorite side dishes or a salad.
