Position the oven rack in the middle and preheat to 450°F. Line a large baking sheet with foil. Using a folded paper towel or cooking spray, grease both sides of a wire rack with neutral oil. Set the greased rack inside the baking sheet.
Thoroughly dry the chicken wings with paper towels.
Combine baking powder, salt, black pepper, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder in a large bowl. Mix well. Add the chicken to the bowl and toss until evenly coated with the seasoning mixture.
Arrange the chicken pieces on the greased wire rack and bake them in the oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping them halfway through cooking. Keep baking until the wings become crispy and the internal temperature reaches 165ºF.
While the wings bake, begin preparing the hot honey sauce. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over medium-low heat. Add the honey and hot sauce, then whisk the ingredients until they are combined. Let the sauce simmer for 1 minute, then remove it from the heat.
Transfer the baked wings to a large bowl. Add half the hot honey sauce and toss to combine.
Serve the wings with the remaining sauce for dipping and your favorite wing sides.
